(WTVR) The retail giant Target, based in Minneapolis, is under fire for a new line of t-shirts that are sold online to support same-sex marriage.

The store said all proceeds will go to the Family Equality Council, a group working to defeat a gay marriage ban in Minnesota.

Voters there will decide this November whether to put the ban into the state constitution.

A spokesman for Minnesota For Marriage said Target is insulting a majority of their customers by selling the t-shirts.

Target fired back saying they're pleased to be able to sell the shirts, while also helping support the LGBT community.

The t-shirts are being sold online through the end of the month.

This controversy comes two years after the retailer angered gay marriage supporters by making a political donation to a gay marriage opponent running for governor’s office in Minnesota.
