As of 9 p.m.,  Dominion Virginia Power reports the storm knocked out power to around 16,000 customers as of 9 p.m.

The high winds and heavy rains could also be to blame for several accidents. One SUV ran off the road caused a traffic backup on I-95 Friday evening. Troopers said the weather was partly to blame for that crash.

The storms did not just affect Central Virginia. The powerful winds and rains also impacted Hampton Roads, northern Virginia and Maryland. The storms left at least four people injured in Maryland.
