RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Students on VCU's Monroe Park campus are on edge as the owner of a Richmond restaurant riddled with bullets early Monday cleans up.

The owner of New York Fried Chicken, Pizza and Subs had to find a friend to come and temporarily replace two panes of glass in the restaurant's front door, since most businesses were closed for Memorial Day.

The top glass was shattered by gunfire around 12:20 a.m. and the bottom glass was left with two bullet holes. [RELATED: Shooting at restaurant near VCU leaves 1 wounded]

After the shooting, VCU sent a text alert to students warning them to stay inside, seek shelter or avoid the area.

For students who live nearby, like Zach White, the shooting is cause for concern. White said what happened was ridiculous, but that it happens all too often.

Others folks who live nearby are concerned about the stray bullets

"I guess it’s scary in as much a stray bullet may fly through my windows, ... but I don't live in fear, because I don't put myself in a situation to have to be out in it," said John McCowan.

Richmond police have questioned two persons of interest,  but have yet to make any arrests.

If you have any information about the shooting, you are asked to call Richmond Crime Solvers at 804-780-1000.
