RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Two young lives intertwined. A young woman dead, and a young man who could go to prison.

A tragedy that will forever change the lives of those who knew 23-year-old Josephine Stone -- and 26-year-old Paul Gray Jr., who was charged with fatally running her over while driving at his work.

Police say on October 28, 2011, Stone was walking from Penny Lane Pub to the National Theater for a concert when she was hit near the intersection of 5th street and Broad.

Police say the man behind the wheel was Gray, a valet who was pulling a car into the Hilton Garden Inn garage.

Stone had graduated from VCU with degrees in English and Print Journalism. She  had recently started a new job as a writer.

What's more, at the time of the accident  she was just days away from celebrating her second year wedding anniversary. More than 200 people attended her funeral.

Gray is facing involuntary manslaughter.

CBS 6 Legal Analyst Todd Stone talked about what tactics the prosecution and defense will likely use.

“I mean the prosecutor wants to show gross negligence, a basic disregard for human life…trying to show speed, maybe texting, something that might have distracted him,” Stone said.

Stone also predicted how the defense will argue the case.

“They’ll say this was an accident," said Stone. "It`s a horrible thing that happened. He`s got to live with it for the rest of his life."
