GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WTVR)- Virginia State Police are investigating a Sunday morning accident that upended a tractor trailer on Interstate 64.

Sgt. Thomas Molnar with VSP tells CBS 6 that they responded to the accident in the eastbound lanes of I-64 near mile marker 155 at 3:16 a.m. to find the single vehicle wreck.

Molnar says the crash occurred when the driver ran off the left side of the road and over corrected. The vehicle crossed back across the road and ran off the right side before overturning and coming to rest on its passenger side.

The driver, identified by police as Grady R. Edwards, 74, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to UVA Medical Center. The truck was carrying 8,000 pounds of egg cartons.

No charges have been filed.
