RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Some Richmond elementary schoolers are learning a lesson in conservation.

A rain garden was unveiled at Chimborazo Elementary School Tuesday morning. It will be used to teach kids the importance of natural resources.

“We want our students, parents and the entire school community to be very conscious of our environment. It is so precious to us and we need to do all we can to protect it,” says Dr. Yvonne Brandon, Superintendent of Richmond Public Schools.

Some city schools already have raised gardens and greenhouses, but Dr. Brandon hopes more rain gardens will be built at other schools in the future.
