RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)- Richmond City Council members will likely put in a lot of overtime Monday night.

That's when they're expected to vote on the city's $1.5 billion spending plan for the fiscal year, beginning, July 1.

Members of the community will have an opportunity to voice their concerns about the budget amendments at the formal council  meeting, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Monday.

In forums prior to Monday's public meeting, parents and school leaders have asked the Council to provide more funding to fill in the district's $10 million dollar budget gap.

The budget hole shrunk from nearly $24 million dollars after state and local leaders found ways  to allocate more resources toward the cash-strapped school system.

City Council members are expected to announce whether they plan to supply Richmond Public Schools with more funding. According to state law, Richmond City Council must adopt a budget for Richmond Public Schools by Tuesday, May 15.
