RICHMOND, Va (WTVR)-For more than 60 years, it’s been one of the cheapest ways to cross the James River.

As you probably know, the old Huguenot bridge is coming down, and a new one is going up.

So how is the project going?

Virginia Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that all the foundation for the new bridge been completed. Three girders have been put into place and the concrete deck for the first half of the new bridge has been finished.

The old bridge is currently scheduled to be demolished in July.

The 35 million dollar project is scheduled to be completed by October 2013.
