FREE STUFF: Things to do and get free

This week’s finds include free frozen yogurt and special events for Mother’s Day weekend.

FREE ADMISSION:   On Thursday, May 10 (new date), enjoy a Richmond Shakespeareproduction of ‘A Midsummer Night`s Dream’ at 7pm on the Carriage House Lawn at Maymont. Get the full schedule of free summer programs at Maymont  HERE .

FREE FROZEN YOGURT:     The new Beri Berry Frozen Yogurtshop, at 7008 Commons Plaza in Chesterfield is marking its Grand Opening with free frozen yogurt (up to a $4.00 value) between 6 and 9 p.m.  Saturday May 12th.    All day long, you can also enjoy buy one/get one free yogurt.

FREE BOWLING:   AMF Bowling Centers is offering FREE bowling again this summer, up to two games per day, for children up to age 15.  May 14 through September 3.    Free bowling will be available seven days a week, until 8p.m. nightly. Shoe rental is not included.

FREE ADMISSION:  Free admission to Henrico Parks and RecKidFest, Saturday May 12 from 1-4p.m. at Deep Run Park, 9900 Ridgefield Parkway, in Henrico, KidFest activities include games, arts and crafts, live music, and dance fitness programs.

FREE CONCERT:   Treat Mom and the family to a free Mother`s Day Concert from the Richmond Concert Band. Sunday, May 13th, 6 p.m. at Agecroft Hall at 4305 Sulgrave Road in Windsor Farms . Bring lawn chairs or blankets; picnics are welcome.

FREE BEVERAGES:   Teacher Appreciation Week: Richmond area McDonald’s are saying “thank you” to all teachers with free McCafe beverages the week of May 7th to 11th.    When placing your order, say you`re a teacher and show a school I.D. . One free beverage; coffee, frappe, smoothie, etc.  per person per visit .

FREE CONCERT:  The Quantico Marine Corps Band  has a free concert Saturday May 12 at 4:30 at the Drewry’s Bluff Unit of Richmond National Battlefield Park, 7600 Fort Darling Road in Richmond. The concert is part of the Battle of Drewry’s Bluff sesquicentennial commemoration that  includes living history programs, demonstrations and battlefield tours.  All programs are free and open to the public at the Battlefield Park.

FREE JAZZ: The Virginia Museum has free admission to it’s Jazz Cafe program every Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Upcoming performances include  the Jim Branch Quartet (5/10), Against All Odds Band (5/17), Anthony Dowd Quartet (5/24), Skip Gailes Quartet (5?31), Joe Scott w/ Virgil Braxton (6/7) .  Jazz Cafe and general VMFA Museum admission are always free.

FREE LESSON: Check out a free introductory lesson, ice skating or ice hockey at either SkateNation Plus in Short Pump or Richmond Ice Zone in Midlothian.

LOTS OF FREE STUFF: How about getting and giving stuff free? The Freecycle Network is made up of nearly five thousand groups and nearly 70-thousand members around the world who are getting and giving away stuff free. Membership is free It’s a great way to recycle, get rid of items you don’t want, and get things you do.

FREE QDOBA: Children eat free at Qdoba on Sundays with the purchase of an adult entrée.

FREE FIREHOUSE SUBS: A lot of restaurants offer birthday clubs that you have to sign up for, to get freebies on your special day. At Firehouse Subs, just show up on your birthday with I.D with your birth date, and get a free medium sub. There are several locations in the metro area.
