RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Some Dominion Virginia Power customers claim the company's proposal for a clean energy future is really a "dirty power plan", and they say the company needs to clean up its act.

The customers held a rally outside the State Corporation Offices in Richmond to demand that Dominion include significant clean energy investments to its 15-year Integrated Resource Plan (IRP).

The SCC held a public hearing on the plan Tuesday morning.

Opponents claim the IRP does not include any large- scale wind or solar projects and will achieve just one-sixth or less of Virginia's conservative benchmark for energy efficiency by 2022.

"I was frankly flabbergasted and disgusted by the fact that Dominion Power has all these ad campaigns saying they are promoting wind and solar, but it does not have that in its current IRP," said Richmond resident Scott Burger.

Earlier this year, Dominion Virginia told the federal government that has designs ready to develop wind turbines about 24 miles off Virginia's coast.
