(WTVR News) Domino’s pizza chain will now dish out a pizza option for those allergic to wheat products.

On Monday Domino’s began advertising the gluten-free crust, and although it is not available in all locations, the variety is offered in Richmond. [Check here for delivery options.]

The website notes that while the crust is certified gluten free, the pizza is still prepared in ovens with pizzas that aren’t gluten-free.

A warning on the website says, “The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness supports the availability of Domino’s Gluten Free Crust, but CANNOT recommend the pizza for customers with celiac disease. Customers with gluten sensitivities should exercise judgment in consuming this pizza. For more info, click here.”

The gluten-free pizza costs about $3 more.

They are the first national pizza-delivery chain to make the option available.

As CNN reports, some of the biggest food makers and sellers are also catering to their gluten-free customers, such Frito-Lay, Anheuser-Busch, and P-F Changs.

One famous Richmond pizza institution, Bottom’s Up, has offered the gluten-free crust option for awhile. They also deliver, to some locations in the area.

The local grocery store chain Martin’s recently re-organized its shelves to make shopping for gluten-free products easier.

As CBS reports, Domino’s partnered with the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness to make sure its gluten-free pizza met the criteria for the foundation’s “GREAT (Gluten-Free Resource Education and Awareness Training) Kitchens Amber Designation.”
