City Council to vote on Landmark Theater plan

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Richmond City Council is scheduled to vote Monday on a plan that would lead to a multi-million dollar renovation of the Landmark Theater.

If funding is approved, the $50 million renovations would include new elevators, concession areas, a new box office and new restrooms. Built in the 1920s, the theater, formerly known as the Mosque, underwent a series of upgrades in the mid-1990s.

The current plan is for the work to be funded by a combination of public and private dollars. [Read more]
