RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - A VCU student who is one of 35 co-chairs of President Barack Obama’s re-election committee gave a powerful speech Saturday.
Sai Iyer spoke at Obama's VCU campaign rally at the Siegel Center.
Iyer rallied the boisterous crowd to get them fired up to support the president's re-election campaign -- and go door to door if necessary.
In fact, he said that Campaign 2012 will not be won by debates, talking heads or campaign ads, but by mobilizing folks to actually get to the polls and vote.
Iyer also said that working for the president's election campaign in 2008, right after he graduated from high school, was one the most meaningful experiences of his life.
"This is a land where if you work hard, your responsibility will be rewarded," said Iyer. "We have a president right now who believes in the America who brought my parents here 30 years ago – and brought me to this stage this afternoon."
