RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Some folks started lining up around 4:30 a.m. Saturday hoping for a chance to see the Commander in Chief and First Lady in Richmond.

By noon, CBS 6 News’ Sandra Jones said hundreds had formed a line that stretched around VCU’s Siegel Center.

The waiting crowd is hoping to attend President Obama’s campaign rally, which is scheduled to begin around 4:30 p.m. However, doors are set to open around 1:45 p.m.

Broad Street from Lombardy to Belvidere will be closed to traffic because of the president’s visit.

The President and the First Lady are slated to attend the first official rallies of his re-election campaign in both Columbus and Richmond Saturday.

Both Ohio and Virginia are considered swing states in the 2012 presidential election.
