RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - East meets west today at the Greater Richmond Convention Center for the 15th annual Asian American Celebration.
This year's theme is about celebrating Asian American friendship.
The free event features a variety of ethnic Asian foods, cultural exhibits, entertainment, children's activities and a parade.
Chairman Malik Kahn said that the event represents diversity throughout the community.
"The wonderful thing about this event is that it's not just the Asian Americans attending this event. I see people who are are Hispanic, African Americans, White folks. Everyone is here. It's not focusing just on one ethnicity or race if you will. There are people from all across."
Organizers expect more than 12,000 people at this year's event.
