CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va (WTVR) - The FBI says it is investigating a series of armed bank robberies in Chesterfield and Sussex they now believe are all connected.
Officials say between March and April the suspects hit four different banks. In each case, one or two men entered the bank wearing dark sunglasses and demanded money. In a statement released on Wednesday, investigators say a review of surveillance photos and witness statements led investigators to believe the same persons are responsible for each of the robberies, as outlined below.
- On March 27, 2012 the Bank of Southside Virginia in Jarratt, Virginia was robbed by an armed black male, 5’7”-5’10”, thin to medium build wearing a dark colored hoodie, blue jeans, gloves and large framed sunglasses.
- On April 3, 2012 the Central Virginia Bank in Midlothian, Virginia was robbed by an armed black male, approximately 140-150 pounds, 5’8”-5’9”, wearing a dark colored hoodie, dark plants, large dark sunglasses and gloves.
- On April 19, 2012 the BB&T in Wakefield, Virginia was robbed by two armed black males. Both subjects are described as 5’8”-5’9”, slender build, and in their 20’s. One subject wore a dark colored hoodie and jeans while the other appeared to wear a grey colored hoodie; both wore large sunglasses.
- On April 23, 2012 the Bank of Southside Virginia in Stony Creek, Virginia was robbed by two armed black males. After exiting the bank, one of the subjects fired a shot from his weapon – no one was injured. The subjects are described as 5’8”-5’9”, slender, and in their 20’s. One subject wore a dark colored hoodie and large sunglasses, the other a brown colored hoodie.
