Turns out, exercise isn’t the only key to weight loss. A good night sleep may be just as important.

A new study by the Academy of Sleep Medicine looked at the sleep habits and the body mass index, or BMI, of more than 1,000 pairs of twins. The results showed sleeping less than seven hours a night was associated with a higher BMI.

But sleeping more than nine hours a night seemed to suppress obesity related genes.

Researchers say the study seems to prove that getting more than eight hours of sleep is vital to both your brain and your body’s health.
