RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones kicked off his Healthy Richmond Campaign Saturday with the "Get Healthy, Stay Healthy" expo held at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.

The event offered free dance classes, free healthy cooking tips and free health screenings.

Mayor Jones says the Healthy Richmond Campaign is designed to promote well-being in the City of Richmond.

"We want Richmonders to live longer.  We want to reduce health care costs, and we just want to move from a sedentary lifestyle."

A recommendation of the Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Health Policy, the Healthy Richmond Campaign promotes healthy lifestyle behaviors and participation in various initiatives to improve the health of Richmond residents.

The campaign engages the public with a variety of health promotion and health education activities while encouraging individuals and the community to proactively be a part of the Healthy Richmond concept of getting healthy and staying healthy.
