Do you remember the construction last July that shut down the busy 405 freeway in Los Angeles, California? People were warned it would create chaos, so thousands stayed home.

Fast-forward nine months, and it’s now believed California’s so-called “Carmageddon” may have resulted in a baby boom.

Doctors and maternity clinics in LA say the birth rate there has skyrocketed. One of them told CBS News that she has done so many deliveries in the last two weeks that she wasn’t able to take her scheduled vacation.

At the moment, the claim is only based on anecdotal evidence and it may turn out to be an urban myth… kind of like the baby boom that followed the New York City blackout in 1965.
