(WTVR) – One day, your smartphone may be able to help diagnose if you have oral cancer.

According to a story published in the Huffington Post, researchers at Stanford University are working on an app for that.

A device attached to your phone could take a photo of the inside of your mouth, and that picture could be sent to dentists who could see if any lesions might be cancerous.

The screening tool is still being tested.

The idea is to use the scanner in places where it’s hard to get a dental checkup.
