CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WTVR) - Neighbors and a relative of the 70-year-old Chesterfield woman who allegedly shot and killed her husband and son said they are shocked and saddened by the news.

Police arrested 70-year-old Estelle Jones Thursday and charged her with killing her husband and son in the couple's home in the 1900 block of River Road.

"The warrants allege that her husband was murdered on the 18th and her son was murdered on the 19th," said Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Duncan Minton.

Additionally, Minton said there were no previous calls to police or any indications of problems inside the house.

A judge ordered Jones held without bond Friday. She is due back in court for a preliminary hearing onJuly 10, 2012.

"It's just a shock to me. I just can't believe it," said Hazel Brown, Estelle Jones' cousin, who lives across the street from the couple's home.

Brown said what happened left her in tears because she her neighbor and the couple's son were killed, plus her cousin is behind bars.

Brown said she last talked to her cousin Monday afternoon when Jones told her that she was "doing alright," but did have a little pain in her side.

Additionally, Brown said that the couple were married more than 50 years and that they lived at the home with their 50-year-old developmentally challenged son.

"He's very quiet, he doesn't talk.  He just comes up the hall, I say' hi,' but he never says anything, he just waves at me," said Berlinda Trent, another neighbor.

The allegations have left Brown stunned, and like many in the community, wondering what happened.

"She really loves that boy... because she didn't go nowhere, he wasn't right there by her side," said Brown.
