Man escapes burning home in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -Police have determined the cause of a North Richmond fire as accidental.

Fire investigators say the fire on 3rd Avenue was caused by an electrical failure.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Richmond fire crews arrived on scene of a house fire on the city's Northside. Crews found the first floor of the home on 3rd Avenue wrapped in fire and smoke. At one point the fire extended up into the second floor of the home.

Lt. Robert Hagaman told CBS 6 one man was inside the house when the fire started. He escaped unharmed.

Crews marked the fire under control around 2:00 a.m.
