After months of bad news, drivers are finally getting some good news from the pumps.

For the seventh straight day, gas prices have dropped.

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded Richmond now stands at $3.89 a gallon. That’s down six cents in one week.

But AAA Mid-Atlantic warns the trend won’t continue. “We have a lot of national and international factors going on right now that could severely influence crude oil prices,” says Windy Van Curen. “Crude oil prices could go back up. On top of that, demand typically goes up in the summer. Soon we’re going to be completely switched over to the summer blends of gasoline which are also more costly to produce, and that price is passed on to the consumer.”

Most analysts still believe gas prices will peak between $4 and $4.25 a gallon around Memorial Day.
