A Tennessee man will serve prison time for making threats against Congressman Eric Cantor and his family.

A federal court judge sentenced 63-year-old Glendon Swift to 13 months in prison on Tuesday. Once he is released, Swift will have to serve three years of supervised release.

Back in December of 2011 Swift plead guilty to a charge of threatening a family member of a federal official. The guilty plea was a part of a plea deal with prosecutors.

Prosecutors say in October of 2011 Swift left two voice mail messages at Rep. Cantor’s Glen Allen office. In the profanity-laden messages, the caller stated he was going to destroy the Congressman, rape his daughter and kill his wife. One of Cantor’s staff members retrieved the messages and alerted U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI.
