RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – John B. Cary Elementary School principal Brenda Phillips won this year’s R.E.B. Award for Distinguished Educational Leadership in Richmond. According to a press release from Richmond Public Schools, during Phillips’ time at Cary, the school has maintained full accreditation and has met all Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) benchmarks.

Each year the R.E.B. Foundation awards four metro-Richmond principals (one each in Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield and Hanover).

The award includes $15,000 in grants and is sponsored by the R.E.B. Foundation in partnership with the Community Foundation.

Phillips said she will use the money to buy The Leader in Me™ curriculum for her school.
