Even though the VCU men’s basketball team won’t be making a repeat showing in this year’s final four games, one of their star players will head to New Orleans to take part in some of the weekend’s biggest festivities.

Senior Bradford Burgess will take part in the ESPN College Three-Point Championships on Thursday, and on Friday play in the Reese’s All-Star Game.

“I’m excited to get another opportunity to put on the VCU uniform again and hopefully have some fun down there,” Burgess said in a release. “Being a part of Final Four week is always special and to get this opportunity two years in a row is something that not a lot of players get a chance to do. I’m really appreciative of getting an invitation to both of these events.”

The ESPN Three-Point Championship will air on ESPN from 9 to 11 p.m. Thursday evening.

Burgess will also play as a member of the West squad in the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-Star Game, played after the Final Four teams practice in the New Orleans SuperDome Friday afternoon. Tip off is set for 4:35.

The Midlothian native has already made a big impact on VCU’s basketball program. He’s ranked fourth in school history in terms of  all-time in points with 1,684.
