FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WTVR) –  Police are looking for a man they said approached young girls, a nanny and children waiting for the school bus in the Idlewild section of Fredericksburg. In an email, Fredericksburg Police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe detailed several suspicious encounters.

On March 15, police said the man followed two pre-teen girls near the shops in the Idlewild subdivision. Five days later on March 20, police said the same man approached one of the girls as she was walking in the neighborhood and asked her about her friend.

Police described that suspect as a white male in his 20’s with curly, medium length blond hair. Police said he is 5’6” to 5’8” with an average build and clean shaven. The man may be driving a mid-sized gray or silver Nissan or Honda with four doors, police said.

Police said they received other reports of a suspicious man in the neighborhood.

On March 15, someone reported a man, who fit the description of the suspect, knocked on his door around 9:00 p.m. The man asked if children lived in the home because he was looking for the kids who threw rocks at him earlier in the day, police said.

On March 20, police said the man approached a nanny carrying for two children outside their home. That man also asked about neighborhood children and shared the same story about the rocks.

The next day, March 21, police said a man approached children at the bus stop and repeated the rock throwing story.

Although no crime has been committed, police said concerned neighbors can call Detective Karen Stubbs at 540-654-5754 or Detective Carlos Reyes at 540-654-5919 if they had information in this case.
