They stepped in to save lives when tragedy struck on September 11.

One of the last living 9-11 rescue dogs, is finding help in Virginia, during her time of need.

Search and rescue dogs helped find victims in New York, Pennsylvania and at the Pentagon.

One of the last surviving hero dogs is getting some much needed help herself, right here in Virginia.

Known as Red, she was just 2-years-old when sent on her first mission at the Pentagon to search for survivors after 9-11.

Now ten years later the lab has been forced into retirement because of severe arthritis.

Thanks to modern medicine relief is on the horizon, Red is receiving free-stem cell therapy at Virginia’s Burke clinic.

So this black lab can live out her golden years in comfort.

These types of search and rescue dogs are credited with finding 70 percent of the human remains recovered from the Pentagon.
