RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The VCU Rams not only won on the basketball court Thursday night when the team defeated Wichita State University, the Rams were also part of the most watched television show in metro-Richmond that night.
According to overnight Nielsen ratings, more than one-third of all metro-Richmond televisions turned on at 9:45 p.m. Thursday night were watching the Rams on CBS 6. Based on Nielsen viewing estimates per household, it’s possible that a quarter million Central Virginians watched some portion of the game.
Thursday night’s game peaked at a 26.45 rating, for perspective VCU’s win last year over Kansas in the Elite Eight averaged a 24.10 rating.
The Rams next play Indiana University.
The game will be played Saturday night at 7:10 p.m. in Portland, Ore.
