Man arrested following Richmond police chief’s neighborhood tour

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Richmond Police announced the arrest of a man accused of shooting another man in the Davee Gardens neighborhood. The shooting and arrest came less than one day after Richmond Police Chief Bryan Norwood and his command staff toured the South Richmond community.

The tour happened Monday evening [click for more]. Police said they received a call about the shooting around 11:15 Tuesday morning. When they arrived on scene, they found a man who suffered six gun shot wounds to his legs. Police said neighbors told officers where they could find the shooting suspect, who was hiding in a shed.

“This is the power of having great community relationships. You couldn’t ask for a better example,” Second Precinct Capt. Harvey Powers said in a press release.

The shooting victim is listed in stable condition at VCU Medical Center.

The suspect, 18-year-old Anthony C. Brooks Jr., is  charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
