RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – You know today, March 14th, or 3.14 is what math and science lovers call Pi Day.
The Science Museum of Virginia will be celebrating the importance of pi by doing all sorts of fun things with the round confectionery.
Some of these things Including dropping pies from heights, seeing what happens when one is frozen in liquid nitrogen and even putting pies under pressure. These events start at 10am and continue until about 3pm.
Pi occurs in hundreds of equations in many sciences including those describing the DNA double helix, a rainbow, ripples spreading from where a raindrop fell into water, general relativity, geometry problems, waves, and of course determines the number of times a circle’s diameter will fit around its circumference.
