NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – The owner of a New Kent County tree removal company was killed Thursday morning by a falling limb, New Kent Sheriff  Farrar Howard Jr. wrote in a press release.

The New Kent County Sheriff’s Office and several New Kent Fire/Rescue crews responded to the 5100 block of New Kent Highway in Quinton around 10:00 a.m. Thursday after someone called 911 to report a man in the woods yelling for help.

The first responders found the body of Clayton Leon Boyd, 61, on the ground in the woods. It appeared Boyd had been struck by a falling limb, the sheriff said.

Boyd owned Boyd Tree Service, according to the sheriff. The Virginia Department of Labor is investigating the death.
