RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones said representatives from the Washington Redskins were in Richmond Wednesday, scouting locations to possibly move the team's training camp.

CBS 6 learned that three representatives from the team  visited the Richmond Marriott, the Greater Richmond Convention Center, VCU and City Stadium during their trip.

Eric Finkbinder, Sr. Vice President, McGuireWoods Consulting, said the team has had a number of meetings in Richmond and has enjoyed their visits.

"It's one of the options that they're looking at as far as the training camp,” said Finkbinder.

According to Mayor Jones, the group made several stops including the Hilton, the Marriott, the Convention center and VCU's campus before ending here at the City Stadium.

"They've been looking at various options as it relates to, obviously, playing fields, meals service, lodging and meeting spaces,” said Finkbinder.

The City Stadium, which sits in Councilman Marty Jewell's district, has left him excited, but also a bit disappointed that he was the last to know about the meeting.

"You can do public business in confidence.  But you can't do public business in secret,” said Jewell. "We're going to work on better relations..myself and the Mayor and see if we can't be a bit more collaborative..if we can use his words."
