CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WTVR) - More people have signed on to join a hunger strike at the University of Virginia, on the tenth day of the strike.

Members of the Living Wage Campaign at UVA  told CBS 6 news that another two students agreed to fast in solidarity , which brings the total number of participants to 19, on day 10 of the strike.

In addition, 70 people from the area have also pledged to take part in the movement.

The students are demanding higher living wages, safer working conditions and better job security for the university's employees.

Today the university president Teresa Sullivan met with the group to discuss their demands, reported the Washington Post.

Members of the group said that doctors have asked the protestors to stop their strike, because the fasting is becoming too dangerous to their health.
