Recent UR grad killed in NYC subway accident

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The University of Richmond is remembering a recent graduate hit and killed by a New York City  subway.

Michael Ice graduated from UR’s Robins School of Business in 2011 and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Ice, who was from Rye, N.Y., was on the tracks at the Spring Street station in New York City’s Greenwich Village when the train hit him early Saturday morning, according to a report on thedailyrye.com.

The university has organized a gathering so Ice’s friends on campus can share stories and talk about their feelings.

That gathering is today at 5 p.m. at Jepson Faculty Lounge.

According to the university, a wake will be held at Graham Funeral Home in Rye on Feb. 28, 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at The Church of the Resurrection, Rye, Feb. 29 at 11 a.m.

Ice’s family asked donations be made to The Michael Ice Memorial Fund, University of Richmond, Advancement Services, Richmond Hall G-18, 28 Westhampton Way, Richmond, VA 23173.
