RICHMOND, Va (WTVR) - Virginians head to the polls in November to decide who will win Jim Webb's soon to be vacant senate seat. Former Governors Tim Kaine and George Allen have already staked their claim and are running, along with Jaime Radtke, Bob Marshall, E.W. Jackson, David McCormick, Courtney Lynch, and Julien Modica. But now a new, somewhat mysterious candidate has stepped forward.

A campaign ad, lawn signs, website and Facebook page supporting "Hank" for senate have all cropped up seemingly overnight.

Hank, being a former street cat from Springfield. He was rescued from euthanization by an area animal group. He's staking his platform on low-cost spaying and neutering for the homeless animal population.

Today Hank's website, http://www.HankForSenate.com, received so much traffic, it crashed the site.

It's unclear whether the Hank campaign is a protest over the actual candidates, or an attempt to raise awareness about homeless animals in the Commonwealth.

Right now Hank, and his handlers, aren't talking.
