RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The man killed Friday after a three-vehicle crash on the Downtown Expressway has been identified. Richmond Police spokesman James Mercante confirmed Saturday afternoon the identity of the deceased driver to be Harry A. Fuller, Jr., 65, of the 13600 block of Cartwright Lane.

Richmond Police spokesperson Gene Lepley said the crash happened around 4:15 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the expressway. He said a vehicle traveling eastbound on the expressway, just east of the Belvidere Street overpass, crossed the median and hit two vehicles.

Each vehicle had a single occupant. Aside from Fuller, one driver was taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries and the other driver left the scene without significant injury.

The Richmond Police Department Crash Team is investigating the accident.

The crash closed the ramps from I-95 north/south to the Downtown Expressway/Route 195 between 9th and 10th streets.

The expressway, which reopened around 8:15, was closed for several hours
