HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – The troubles for customers of Mo Money Taxes continued Friday when they picked up their refund checks Friday in Eastern Henrico.

Some customers say they’ve been waiting for their refund for weeks. CBS 6 spoke with two managers at the Eastern Henrico branch on Wednesday about the problem. They said a computer glitch with the IRS caused the late checks and that customers should get their checks by Friday.

However, when customers arrived, some were told their checks were still not available. Others that did receive their checks, had to return to the office hours later after their banks told them the checks could not be deposited. Some had the wrong routing numbers on them.

Mo Money Taxes in other cities have been hit with similar complaints, including Norfolk, where all Mo Money locations have been shut down while police investigate.

In Henrico, Carla Mayo is still waiting to get her refund.

Mayo said after Mo Money completed her return, tax preparers sent it to the IRS, who then told her it would be deposited into her bank before she got her money.

But Mayo now says she can’t get answers from her bank or Mo Money.

“I’ve been waiting since January 31st.  I want to know, where’s my check?” said Mayo. “I can’t talk to anybody to get an answer.”

Mayo said she hasn’t been able to get answers from her bank or Mo Money.

Tracy Austin said she paid $500 for her tax return to get a $300 refund only to be told she can’t cash her check either.

“I was told by one of the Mo Money people that the check they originally gave me bounced,” Austin said.  “So they’re having to reprint checks and possibly hand them over to whomever cashed them for us.”

A spokesperson with the IRS said customers can file a complaint against Mo Money or any other tax preparer by going to IRS.gov or calling 1-800-829-1040.
