RICHMOND, Va.  (WTVR) -  Mo Money Taxes is taking heat in several states from people who say they have still not received IRS-issued refunds.

"I'm so angry right now," said Spondella Williford. "But I prayed about it and ain't nothing I can do but wait."

Williford told CBS 6 News' Sandra Jones Wednesday that she paid tax preparers at Mo Money $285 to file her return two weeks ago. She hoped to get a hefty check in the mail.

Williford said she didn't get a check and not many answers when she showed up at the company's Eastern Henrico location.

"It's hard when you're working two jobs trying to get your money,” said Williford.  “It's not theirs, it's my money. "

Williford says they told her she'd have to wait several days to get her return because the money needed to clear the company's account first.

Inside Mo' Money, a man claiming to be a manager insisted customers would get their refunds on Friday.  And that, a computer glitch with the IRS caused the delayed refunds.

"We're going to take care of them," he said. "I'm trying to work on it now."

The manager also says employees didn't show up at their South Richmond locations because they were receiving death threats from customers.

"It raises this tremendous concern on parts of the people who don't have a lot," said Tom Gallagher with the Better Business Bureau.

Gallagher says before you file those taxes with a company you think is legit.

"You want to shop it around.  Some place they advertise it as being real, real attractive,” said Gallagher.  “If you file with us we'll get the refund back for you in two days, three days.  You just to watch.  Who's best interest do they have at heart.”

Gallagher tells us, you should understand what your getting and how much it will cost you before giving out any information.

The Better Business Bureau says Arkansas’ attorney general filed a lawsuit against Mo Money taxes in 2010 for not disclosing some hidden fees.  That case was settled in November of last year.

The agency is working with customers get their complaints to the IRS.  If you filed with Mo' Money, you can call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040.
