RICHMOND, VA (WTVR) - Last month we warned you about an alleged paving scam making its way across Richmond.

CBS6 reported on one of the victims-- a Richmond sales company--that claimed it lost thousands of dollars.

Now it appears there is another victim; a company that's fallen victim all because of its name, despite an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

The owners of Charles Stanley, Jr.  Paving Company—who’ve been building their good reputation over the past three decades--said they're upset that the recent alleged paving scam has affected their family-run business.

The BBB recently sent out an alleged scammer alert about great offers to pave your driveway.

The alleged con-artist behind one of the scams was named George Stanley. The story made local headlines after Avrum Elmakis came forward and alleged to have lost approximately $7,000 as part of the contracting scam.

Word spread about the scam alert, and Sibey Stanley said that their family-owned company, unfortunately with the same last name, has had a tough time ever since.

“Our business is not affiliated with any other Stanleys,” Sibey said. "We feel awful, because we live in the state Virginia and this is somebody out of state.”

“We've been here thirty years and we’re in the phone book-- in other words, people should check things out and get references and stuff,” she added.

That’s advice that Tom Gallagher, with the BBB, stands behind.

Sibey said that she hopes potential customers will do their homework, and see that this group of Stanley’s continues to stand on a shining record.
